Hendricks G & Tea | Afternoon Tea at Laguna Kitchen & Bar

Earlier this week, my Mother and I popped over to Park Plaza's Laguna Kitchen & Bar for a boozy and refreshing twist on Afternoon tea. It included Hendrick's Gin with a traditional afternoon tea to combine both of the British classics. The cocktail is light and refreshing with an almost bitter taste until you add in a soothing slice of cucumber for a more smoother taste. It's served in a dainty vintage teapot to compliment the whole experience and truly puts the tea in G&T.

The waiters were so friendly and accommodating, I actually learnt so much about the different flavours in the cocktail along with learning some history about Hendrick's Gin. We had around 10-15 minutes to sit and enjoy our first cup before our selection of sandwiches and desserts were served. The selection of finger sandwiches included: severn and wye smoked salmon, cucumber, dill and cream cheese, free range egg mayonnaise with cress and home roasted ham. These delicious savoury snacks were the perfect selection to prepare our stomachs for the variety of mouth watering sweetness that followed. Of course, no afternoon tea is complete without scones with fresh cream and jam but these were more delicious than usual, fresh and warm with cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve. There was also french macaroons, strawberry tarts with a champagne pastry cream, chocolate opera gateau and finally, lime jelly topped with mint and cucumber Chantilly cream to perfectly accompany the Hendrick's elderflower cocktail. This was such an interesting and unique take on a British classic, one I'll be sure to return to Laguna Kitchen & Bar for again in the future. You can find the full menu here along with how to make a booking.

*Afternoon Tea was kindly provided to me by Park Plaza in exchange for an honest review.

  1. This looks absolutely amazing. I had afternoon tea once before at the Celtic Manor, but this looks just as good!
