Laguna Twilight Supper & Spa

When you first step into Laguna Health & Spa, it's almost impossible to believe it's located directly in the centre of Cardiff. The windows from the relaxation room and swimming pool overlook trees and greenery creating tranquil views and the calming atmosphere is something rarely found in a city centre. I met up with Georgia, Jessie, Stef and the lovely Jade, who organised the whole thing for an evening of pampering, girly chat and mouth watering good food last Thursday.

We arrived at 5:00pm and were given our robes, towel and slippers, along with a locker key and given a brief tour of the facilities before left to our own devices to enjoy the spa before our scheduled treatments. We spent some time catching up on the loungers surrounding the pool before relocating to the hot tub for ultimate relaxation. We also spent some time in the relaxation rooms before and after our treatments, sipping on the complimentary water and juice and enjoying the serenity of it all. The others opted for back massages which sounded incredible but I was in desperate need of a manicure so decided to go with a nude nail make over.

After a few hours of relaxation in the spa, we freshened up and headed to Laguna kitchen and bar to try one of the gin of the month cocktails (and boy were they goooood). This isn't part of the Twilight package but more of an optional extra that I definitely recommend to get you out of spa mode and into a dining mood.
There's a set menu with the Twilight Supper & Spa that included a selection of dishes for you to choose two courses from. The menu changes daily depending on what local fresh produce is available or what the chef fancies whipping together but there's plenty of selection either way.

We were lucky enough to experience all three courses (for reviewing purposes, of course) and for starters I opted for marinated figs wrapped in prosciutto which was the perfect light dish to prepare my stomach for the delicious slow roasted pork belly that followed. Complete with crackling, black pudding, potato dauphinoise and a butternut squash puree, this dish was oozing with flavour and left me full to the brim.

Of course after a brief break between dishes and a flirt with the dessert menu, to end the evening I soon had a chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream on it's way and boy was it good. The thought of the gooey goodness is making my mouth water as I type this!
The Twilight Supper & Spa package was perfect for all occasions, whether you're planning a catch up with the girls or in need of a mid-week pick me up, it's the perfect package to escape everyday stress and indulge in an evening of complete relaxation.
