21 in Rome

It was my 21st birthday last week and to celebrate, my boyfriend and I headed to Rome to explore, soak up some sun and over indulge in carbs and gelato. Italy did not disappoint, in fact, it was everything you expect; cobbled winding streets, scorching weather and the smell of espresso mixed with saffiano leather following you everywhere you go..

Rome is quite small so most things can be found by walking from place to place. Our hotel was a brief walk to the Trevi Fountain so we spent most of our time eating Nutella gelato and making wishes (with the occasional trip to Prada). On one of our days however we did pay €20 each for the open top bus which was the perfect transport to take us from Vatican City to the Colosseum.

I'll be honest though, the sights were beautiful and the weather was a delight but the trip for me was all about the cuisine. I love Italian food and eating fresh pasta with delicious sauces' was the highlight. I normally have restaurants to recommend when I've been travelling and although each restaurant we did visit was incredible,  I'm pretty confident that you can't go far wrong wherever you go. Each street is full of authentic restaurants serving the three P's (pizza, pasta and parmesan.. duh) and a huge selection of wine to accompany it.

I'm going to wrap it up here as the pictures always do the talking on this sort of thing but to conclude, if you are planning a trip to Rome soon, prepare for a self inflicted carbohydrate coma, coffee that'll get you outta bed in 0.5 seconds and beautifully sculptured water fountains to mooch around.

Arrivederci, Roma!

  1. This is making me so nostalgic. I just love Italy. The three Ps thing cracked me up. I visited the Amalfi coast last August and still don't feel like I've fully awoken from my carb coma 😂 x
