Glam Rock Afternoon Tea at K West Hotel & Spa London

Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite things in life but I'll be the first to admit, it can get kinda boring. Especially when you're served the same standard finger sandwiches and scones every time. I'm constantly searching for places that serve afternoon tea with a twist and I've found a treasure I just have to share with you.

I recently got to experience the Glam Rock Afternoon Tea at the K West Hotel & Spa in West London. The hotel is located in Shepherds Bush so it's conveniently neighbouring vibrant bars, music venues and trendy stores - and of course, Westfield is only around the corner. The hotel was previously a recording studio and it has kept some of the original touches - including afternoon tea served on iconic vinyl sleeves.

K West have an eye for the finer details. The art work on the walls pop out at you as soon as you walk through the door and it doesn't stop there.. Each item on the menu was carefully curated and so full of flavour.

..and of course the whole experience is made better with the option to upgrade your tea to prosecco or a cocktail. We started off with a bespoke tea called Tea Rex which was a blend of strong black tea leaves, green tea and cherry. It was smoky yet slightly floral - an unusual blend with flavours that surprisingly complimented each other so well.

I also ordered a 'Dyna-Mite' cocktail including Gin, Elderflower, Lavender and Cranberry juice to accompany the selection of sweet and savoury treats.

Rock N' Savoury Rolls

Each savoury option was so unique and every mouthful was filled with flavour. The sandwiches were served like pinwheels with little twists to each classic option. Smoked Salmon with Philadelphia Cheese on Golden Corn Bread, Honey Roast Ham with Mustard Mayonnaise on Spinach Bread and lastly my favourite of the selection.. Mozzarella with Pesto on Sundried Tomato Bread.

Served on a separate plate was a pair of sweet pinwheel sandwiches. So rich and gooey these alternative sandwiches were Nutella and Mascarpone on a Peruvian Maize Bread. These little wheels of goodness caught my eye straight away and were the first thing I delved into.

There was also a selection of mini tarts to feast our teeth into. There was a roast chicken and mayonnaise in a beetroot shell tart, shrimp and sweet chilli in a gold pop semolina shell, bocconcini and pesto in a pesto shell and my personal favourite; Grilled beef with mustard in a black wheat charcoal tart. Each bitesized tart was oozing with flavour and texture - The crunch of the shell combined with the tender filling made them the perfect savoury option to accompany the sweet treats that were to follow..

Ohh Sweet Child of Mine

It's not afternoon tea without a selection of scones and these did not disappoint. There were two mini wild berry scones each accompanied with clotted cream and a choice of homemade berry or apricot jam.

There was also wild berry macaroons, dark chocolate covered nougat bites, a selection of berries and white chocolate nougat lollipops. We were spoilt for choice with selection but it didn't stop there. The chef joined us to briefly introduce the menu and explained his unique take on cheesecake with a pair of strawberry sprinkled chocolate cones filled with vanilla and maldon sea salt cream cheese. These were a heavenly balance of sweet and salted.

The final treat left to try was a chocolate sandwich cake that the chef explained originated in Sweden as a savoury cake called "Smorgastarta". Garnished with fresh fruit and dripping with chocolate, this cake was full of flavour yet still light and refreshing.. The perfect end to the most delicious afternoon tea experience.

What I loved most about Glam Rock afternoon tea was that it's not just a gimmick. K West have truly played on the heritage of the hotel to create a fun twist on a classic afternoon tea. It also managed to do this tastefully whilst still maintaining a level of luxury.

You can also order this at the bar between 10PM and 12AM if you would like to emphasise the glamorous rock and roll aspect with a few extra cocktails.

If you're not completely sold yet (trust me, you should be!) then it's worth mentioning that considering the amount of food you receive and the central London location, it's also got a very appealing price tag starting from as little as £24.50 each.

*Afternoon Tea at K West Hotel & Spa was kindly gifted in exchange for an honest review.
