Cocktails and Dim Sum at Thai Silk London

Nestled amongst trees, arches and other vibrant bars and restaurants is Thai Silk, a delightful little Cocktail Bar and Thai Restaurant on Isabella Street in Southwark London.

We headed along for a Thursday evening date night last week to sip on cocktails, soak up the atmosphere and over indulge in Thai nibbles and dim sum. Can you believe until last week I never liked Thai Food? I had one bad experience many years back and have stayed clear since.. until my recent visit to Thai Silk where my faith in the cuisine has been completely restored!

The atmosphere was relaxed yet lively. We sat in a cosy little booth in the corner but were still very much able to soak up the vibrant atmosphere. Everyone had a buzz of excitement about  the weekend ahead and the selection of cocktails on the menu made it all the easier to get into the weekend spirit.

We first ordered a couple of classic cocktails - I opted for a porn star martini and Luke chose a long island iced tea. Of course, nothing works up an appetite like chatting with a cocktail in hand so we ordered a selection of bar snacks and dim sum to accompany them. The first thing to arrive were the beef dumplings with broccoli. These were delicious and gone in seconds. Next to arrive was our selection of mini vegetable spring rolls and samosas with sweet chilli sauce. Again these were gone in seconds - not just because we'd worked up an appetite but they were just so damn good. Crispy yet oozing with flavour with every bite.

Our second round of cocktails were a little more adventurous and I chose a dirty berry silk. I'm not entirely sure what it contained but it was fruity and refreshing but with a 'lil kick! I also had a taste of Luke's second choice which was just as tasty but a little more citrusy.

I've kept the best for last here though with the spicy and crisp calamari dish we had to share. It was seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. I'm quite fussy with calamari and it needs to be cooked perfectly and this did not disappoint. In fact, it was one of the best I'd tried. This was the dish that sealed the deal for me and put my faith back into Thai cuisine.

This was exactly what I needed to dip my toes back into Thai food, but all I can think about is returning for a full meal at the restaurant sometime soon. I just have to try the Thai green curry.

Whether you're looking for a relaxed yet lively spot for after work drinks, planning a girls night or want somewhere around central London for a date night then Thai Silk has you sorted. You've got the option of sitting down in the restaurant for a full meal of delicious food or taking a seat at the bar, sipping cocktails and chomping on equally as delicious bar snacks/dim sum all evening. Either is the perfect choice and in the Summer it's made all the more better with outdoor seating amongst foliage and trees.

*My evening was complimentary in exchange for an honest review.
