The Vale Resort - Room, Restaurant & Spa Review

A couple of days spent at The Vale Resort was exactly what I needed.

My life has been so hectic lately and although I wouldn't want it any other way, living off of coffee and 5 hours sleep is not enough. An overnight getaway and spa break was exactly the rejuvenation I needed..

The drive was a pleasant 20 minutes from Cardiff and we arrived to the sun shining at around 4PM on a Thursday afternoon. The check-in process couldn't of been smoother with complimentary parking located right outside of the grand entrance and a friendly receptionist to show us where all the facilities where located.

The whole resort felt light and airy creating a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for those relaxation seekers.

We stayed in an Executive Room which was the most spacious of hotel rooms and perfect for an overnight stay. I stay at hotels quite frequently and it's often difficult to find the balance between a small room and a huge suite but The Vale Resort have absolutely nailed it!

The room contained all the components of a 4 star hotel and more. The high ceilings and spacious surroundings emphasised the luxurious aspect of the resort whilst the huge balcony and windows oozed in natural light.

We had the most delightful of views from our spacious balcony. Overlooking the golf course and acres of greenery whilst sat there with a cup of tea in my fluffy robe and replying to emails was a treat. I almost lost track of time when Luke swiftly reminded me we had reservations at the restaurant later that evening. After a brief soak in the tub, using the complimentary 'The White Company' products it was time to head to The Grill for our evening meal.

The restaurant was lively and inviting. As we where staying there on a 'Dinner, Bed and Breakfast' package, we had a select menu to choose three courses from.

Luke opted for the leak and potato soup with homemade extra virgin olive oil croutons as a starter, which looked delicious. I'd chosen a teriyaki chicken salad which was also delicious and the perfect light dish before our main course.

There was a wide selection to choose from but both Luke and I can't resist a steak when there's one on the menu. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking and accompanied with peppercorn sauce and triple cooked chips.

..and just when I thought my meal couldn't get better, I spot banoffee tart with fresh banana ice-cream on the menu. This was the perfect sweet addition to finish our evening meal. Luke chose the assortment of sorbets which he couldn't rave about enough either!

To finish our evening we headed back to our room, watched some TV in bed and also had a nibble on the complimentary box of welsh truffles awaiting for us in the room. I definitely forgot I was spending the following day in a swimsuit with the amount of food we consumed - whoops.

The following morning we awoke bright and early, opened the curtains and let the light beam through the window whilst we got ready.

We promptly headed for breakfast ahead of our spa day. We were shown to our table and provided with tea and coffee. There was a selection of juices, fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurts, cereal and cured meat to choose from along with the components to make the most tasty and wholesome full welsh breakfast. Our favourite part was the pancake machine.. yes, pancake MACHINE. Sadly I didn't get any photos but I couldn't recommend this more with some bacon and maple syrup. My mouth is watering at the thought of these fluffy American style pancakes!

After breakfast we headed back to our room to pack up our things and check out. You can leave your luggage with the concierge and use the facilities for the rest of the day but with our car being parked so near the entrance, it made more sense to pack everything into the car and return to the spa.

After changing into our robes and having a tour of the facilities, we were left to roam the spa for a few hours ahead of our pre-booked lunch and treatments. We swam a few lengths of the pool and relaxed in the jacuzzi and steam room before drying off in the sauna and heading into the Moroccan themed relaxation rooms with heated water beds.. A literal dream. The whole spa was so peaceful and it's only been a week yet I'm already craving that kind of relaxation again.

After a few hours of mooching around, we'd worked up an appetite and headed to the spa cafe for lunch. We both opted for a chicken Caesar salad with fresh apple juice. The food was light, refreshing and dressed perfectly - but by this point, I wouldn't expect anything less from The Vale Resort!

To finish off our trip I had a 70 minute 'Red Carpet' facial booked in and boy was it divine! It was the perfect amount of time to fully unwind and relax whilst being pampered. My skin was glowing and rejuvenated by the end also. This ended the trip perfectly for me, however I was a little sad to see our dreamy getaway come to an end.

*This trip was complimentary in exchange for an honest review
